[News] Nomination of Angel Locsin in International Emmy Awards Still in News

The nomination of Angel Locsin in the 37th International Emmy Awards is still in news. It is interesting how writers seem to connect Angel's good deeds for the victims of Typhoon Ondoy to her Emmy nomination. This insinuation is unfair for Angel because getting nominated to this prestigious award seems to be credited because of her good deeds and not because she deserves the recognition on her excellent portrayal of Lyka in Lobo.

Why can't writers remember that Angel Locsin lost to Sunshine Dizon as "best actress" in the 22nd PMPC Star Awards for TV in 2008. This is a validation that Angel should have won and I would like to know how the judges felt now for shortchanging Angel. I have seen the performance of both actresses and I believe that Lyka's character has more depth and range as compared to the look-alike characters portrayed by Sunshine. I agree that Sunshine is a good actress but the character portrayed by Angel was more complex and Angel had shown an outstanding performance in that drama.

By the way, Angel is the second Filipina who got nominated in the International Emmy Awards next to Tessie Tomas who got a supporting best actress nomination for her portrayal of Imelda Marcos for "A Dangerous Life". Click here for the related story.

Here's the news for today:

INDEED, for Angel Locsin, what you sow is what you reap. Just recently, she reportedly donated half a million pesos for the relief of typhoon “Ondoy” victims. For her good deed, perhaps she is now nominated to the 37th edition of the International Emmy Awards for her performance in the TV series “Lobo” of ABS CBN.

It was mentioned that she is the only Asian who was given the honor of being nominated to such a prestigious award giving body.

With this nomination, it looks like Angel’s work has been cut out for her and that more projects for her from ABS CBN can now be expected.
