[News] Angel Gears for International Emmy Awards night

Found this screencaps from ARep posted by ghesahl@PEx. Many thans sis sally. This is from the video taken during the iEmmy's Nominee Medal and Certificate awarding ceremony on 21 November 2009 in iEmmy Festival, Sofitel Hotel New York .

Click
here to view the video, that was sent to SNN by Lester Villarama through Dara Sauler, which I heard was shown in SNN a few hours ago. I just finished watching the video and I felt so happy watching Angel receiving the certificate and the gold medal. You can see also press people afterward interviewing Angel and taking her pictures. What is so heartwarming is the scene towards the end where we get to glimpse how close the relationship is between Angel and Becky Aguila, her manager. You can see her fondness with Angel while she is touching Angel's hair *choking up*

Here is also the report from Don Tagala who is covering the iEmmy event in New York.

MANILA – For being a nominee at the 37th International Emmy Awards, Angel Locsin has been given a gold medal, along with ABS-CBN production manager Lourdes Tanwangco, ahead of Tuesday’s (Manila time) gala night in New York.

Locsin's performance as a she-wolf in ABS-CBN teleserye "Lobo" merited a nomination under the best performance by an actress category.

Locsin is competing against Emma De Caunes ("Night Birds," CHEZ WAM, France), Cecilia Suarez ("Capadocia," HBO Latin America Originals, Mexico), and Julie Walters ("A Short Stay in Switzerland", BBC, United Kingdom).

Locsin is the second Filipina to be nominated under the best actress category in the prestigious competition. In 1989, Tessie Tomas was nominated for her role as former first lady Imelda Marcos in “A Dangerous Life.”

If she wins, Locsin will be the first Filipina to bring home the award.

The Filipino actress said she is not expecting anything. She said she is happy just to be recognized by an international award giving body.

“Ine-enjoy ko lang naman lahat kasi ayaw ko naman i-treat na parang kompetisyon ito. Kasi for me manalo, matalo, ‘yong ma-appreciate ka lang sa bagay na ginagawa mo, malaking bagay na ‘yon sa akin,” she said.

Like People’s Champ Manny Pacquiao, Locsin said she also hopes to inspire her countrymen.

“Para sa akin hindi nagtatapos yan dito. Bilang artista, isang chapter pa lang ito. After nito move on ka, mag-research ka ulit sa bago mong character. Pero siyempre nakatulong ito para ma-inspire ka pa,” she added.

Locsin said if she wins she will dedicate her award to Filipinos worldwide.

ABS-CBN's "Kahit Isang Saglit" (A Time For Us), which was topbilled by Jericho Rosales and Carmen Soo, is also nominated under the telenovela category.

In all, the Philippines has 3 nominations.

GMA Network's "Magdusa Ka" accompanied "Kahit Isang Saglit," a co-production of ABS-CBN and Malaysia's Double Vision SDN BHD, in the telenovela category.

All 41 nominees in 10 categories have received a gold medal.

The winners will be announced at a black-tie ceremony at the Hilton New York Hotel. It will be hosted by UK television star Graham Norton. -Don Tagala, ABS-CBN North America News Bureau
