Spotted: Angel Locsin with Richard Gutierrez

Angel Locsin and Richard Gutierrez were spotted together at a dinner night out perhaps after the Us Girls awarding.  Their photo posted in our earlier blog here made their long time supporters (ChardGel fans) happy.  For those who have not seen their previous movies, check out the video trailers here.

The ChardGel (Richard and Angel loveteam) fans have been waiting for a movie reunion so seeing them together in this video is a big treat. Click here for our previous story on Chardgel.


Although I have not seen any of their movies together, I can understand clearly why ChardGel fans have been requesting for a reunion just from seeing them here in the video. Here's the gifs I made for my friend Nicky911, who is an avid chardgel fan.

[Poll] Netizens Look Forward to Angel and John Lloyd Pairing the Most

LloydieGel. Our week long online poll here in Twilight's blog revealed that the upcoming pairing in a TV series of Angel Locsin with John Lloyd Cruz (LloydieGel) is the most anticipated team up for netizens getting 46% (26 votes) among the voters. Both stars have expressed excitement in working together in their upcoming first project. Samgel. The pairing of Angel with Sam Milby (SamGel) earned a huge following in the hit koreanovela remake, Only You, that was aired last year. They were first seen together in "Maalala Mo Kaya" anthology drama in 2007, which later earned Angel her first acting award, "Best Actress in a Single Performance" in PMPC Star Awards for TV. ChardGel: The pairing of Angel and Richard Gutierrez (ChardGel) is considered by many as one of the most successful love teams of their generation. They initially appeared together as twins in 'Click', a teen oriented TV show in 1999. It did not prevent however the viewers in embracing their first team up in Mulawin in 2004. Movies they starred later on were box office hits like Let the Love Begin, I will Always Love You and The Promise. Although they now belonged in different network, their fans are not losing hope in seeing them again together in the big screen. This pairing got 10% (6 votes) from online voters. GeLo and LuckyGel. The pairing of Angel and Piolo Pascual (GeLo) and possible team up of Angel and Luis Manzano (LuckyGel) both received 8% (5 votes) from online voters. GeLo's first project, Lobo or The Wolf TV series in 2008 earned Angel a nomination in the International Emmy Awards in Best Performance by an Actress category. For our related stories, search for iEmmy at the right column as I have written too many blogs on this subject. GeLo starred in a movie Love Me Again in 2009 when their TV show ended. The movie is ranked no. 6 in 2009 top grossing Filipino movies as per BOM report. As for LuckyGel, it will be interesting to see them doing a project together. Since ABS-CBN is known in doing experimental pairings, it is not impossible to see them working in a project in future.


VhonGel. Among other love teams, the pairing of Angel and Vhong Navarro (VhonGel) is the next one that we will be seeing on TV through Kokey@Ako TV show. Although the pictorial for a teaser was taken on 5th of this month, there is no definite premiere date yet for this show. This is the first project of VhongGel so it is not surprising they got only 5% (3 votes) from online voters. It will be interesting to watch Angel in a comedy for a change. The fans are also looking forward in watching this show because Angel's projects are too far in between in her current home network.


DenGel. If there was ChardGel in movies, there was DenGel (Angel with Dennis Trillo) in TV shows in GMA. It is a big credit to Angel that she had successfully carried two love teams simultaneously. DenGel was paired together in Darna in 2005 and Majika in 2006 so it is not surprising that they got only 1% (1 vote) from online voters.

In another week long poll conducted last year before the results of iEmmy awards were announced, netizens believe that Angel will win the iEmmy. Out of 109 online voters, 97% (106 votes) had voted 'Yes'.

[Fans Corner] ChardGel in New York Times

I found a nice fan video in youtube created by a ChardGel (a nick for the tandem of Richard Gutierrez and Angel Locsin) fan. For the information of readers who are not yet aware of it, there is an ongoing petition for a ChardGel reunion. Although I have not watched any of their movies and shows, I am aware that this tandem is one of the best love teams in the Showbiz history. I am not sure if others will object to my last statement. I guess I am a bit biased because I am an avid supporter of Angel :).

Anyway for ChardGel fans, they may find it interesting that after creating the petition for a reunion, Angel Locsin and Richard Gutierrez both got mentioned in New York Times. Perhaps this is a good omen that their wish will be granted very soon.

Richard Gutierrez first got featured in New York Times when he saved Christine Reyes in a movie style rescue operation during Typhoon Ondoy. Click here for the story.

Angel Locsin on the other hand was mentioned in New York Times for her nomination in the 37th International Emmy Awards under the "Best Performance by an Actress" category for her lead role in Lobo (The Wolf).
